Selective colour inside Adobe Camera RAW

Shooting your images in raw gives you amazing scope for improving your images on your computer, but the latest version of Adobe camera RAW (ACR) which comes with Photoshop CS4 and Lightroom 2 and 3 has an extra trick. Digital expert Gavin Hoey www.gavtrain.com show how it possible to apply a selective colour technique without leaving RAW. This Image is part of the 15 minute Photo Challenge – Taormina which can be viewed here www.youtube.com

First you should check if your camera can shoot RAW. A DSLR camera will definitely can and also a lot of compacts, but not all of them. Read the manual or look in the camera’s menu in the settings group where you usually change the JPG quality.

Maybe it’s a stupid question, but: how do I ‘tell’ my digital camera that I want raw photo format files? When I put them on my computer they’re already jpeg files… thanks
